This weekend all series-system expect the highest divisions (Elitserien) plays its final weekend of the Team Play season in Sweden. Most interesting is of course on the two division 1 series where the winners will play in next year’s Elitserien.
Before this last round the Landskrona club BGK Linjen seemed to have a firm grip on the victory and the appealing Elitserie place for next season. But on the other hand the chasing team Gullbergsbro had home ground on eternit, but they where 6 points behind with only 14 points to play for.
From team 3 and downwards all teams could find themselves in a degradation seventh position if they had a bad weekend. So lots of 4-point matches were expected.
Even though this it was hard to foresee a really strange situation was a fact before last round. Only two of the eight teams in 4 matches could neither win the serie or be degraded depending on the outcome in the matches.
Of course one the team without anything to play for, already 8-placed Åstorp could play without any nerves and won easily against Tuve in the first match in the last round. Tuve then landed on 17 points. That opened up for the next two matches where Jönköping 2 needed a win against Växjö to go up on 18 points. Of course this match ended in a one-stroke win for Jönköping 2. Växjö also had 18 points in the end. That meant that Skoghall 2 needed to win against already third placed Granhyddan to also land on 18 points. And, since it was a crazy day, this of course happened by the closest margin of one stroke.
Before the last game, where the two meet, Gullbergsbro had 31 points and Linjen 30 points. It was like the matches before a real close battle for the Elitserie next year. Linjen had the grip with the needed one stroke with two men and two lanes to go. But a really expensive 3 on lane 17 for Joel Andersson in Linjen turned the match around and Gulbbergsbro could in the end win with one stroke and will play in the next year’s Elitserie.
In the north first division Mjölby could not be stopped and won the serie 5 points ahead of Örebro on the last rounds play at the Tantogården Beton in Stockholm.
Best individually in the south was Andreas Cederholm , Granhyddan with 21,6 and in the North it was Mikael Ohldén, Uppsala 2 with 27,1.
