National league playing on the same weekend with a major tournament simply means that the competition is not regarded as a major tournament. Looks like nobody ever wanted to make it a "major" tournament anyway, if you look at this long list of facts:
- WMF mysteriously named it as "Masters" instead of the expected name "Adventure Golf World Championships".
- At WMF website this competition is listed under "international events", not under "international championships". (Even more funny as Nations Cup is listed under "international championships", so Adventure Golf World Masters is ranked even lower in status than NC practice competition.)
- Swedish Minigolf Federation´s competition calendar does not even mention this event (today 27 Feb 2011), even though the playing days were published months ago.
- Finnish national team´s head coach does not mention this event in his published list of important competitions for the natonal team in 2011.
- And so on, and so on..
There´s more stick than carrot to adventure golf players from WMF in this tournament project. But even that is more than what has been seen ever before, so it is "a step into a good direction". Maybe more good steps, and better steps, will be seen in future. |
