The 3rd and last day of Italian league 2013 has been played on the new felt course in Algund (Sudtirol).
This has been the first big italian tournament ever played on a felt course.
The course in Algund is a quite tricky one, and the tournament has been really hard to play also due to the strong wind that blew on the course almost all the day long, so that it has been necessary to wait up to 5-6 minutes to play a single shot.
The ladies competition has been without any big suspence because all had been decided yet after the 2nd day, with GSP Cusano in the lead: they won also the last day of the league with a narrow margin of 3 strokes on M.C. Monza, which also gain the second place in the league. Third place in the tournament and the league for MMC Paderno, GSP Vergiate 4th.
In the men competition, GSP Vergiate had to recover 2 points on GSP Cusano after the first two days. That means that the team which would have been better in Algund would get also the victory of the league.
Vergiate was of course the favourite team, being the most experienced Italian team on felt (they played 2x European Cup on this system in the last years), but the match have been quite close for almost all the day long. Vergiate stayed always in the lead in front of Cusano but with a margin of about 10 strokes, which is quite narrow on a difficult felt course like this. GSP Cusano paid some unexperience on this system (for some of their players this was the first tournament on felt ever) and lost contact in the last part of the last round, ending in 3rd place. The second place of the day went to the “home” team of SV Lana that with this place got a 5th place in the overall ranking and assured its presence in the 2014 league.
These are the final rankings of the last day:

About individual performances, the best player of this day is by far Paolo Porta (GSP Cusano), the only player to score three “green” rounds ( 31-33-34) and a total under 100 strokes ( 98) . He is followed by the young player from Lana, Hannes Laimer with 101 strokes and Rudi Giroldini from Vergiate with 102. Only 6 player with a “green” total that show the difficulties of the course and also the small experience of Italian players on felt.
