The 3rd round of the West Swedish Winterseries for teams was played on January 24th-25th at an eternite course in Vänersborg. Among the participating 8 teams are Kungälvs BGK and Gullbergsbro BGK, both playing in Swedish Elitserien 2009.
The guys from Kungälv showed a brilliant play during the weekend, starting off with 5 rounds between 21,2 and 21,8 which are top results for a 5-men team. At the end they had won all 7 matches and they now have the lead by 6 points before Gullbergsbro. Even if there is one round to go (on felt), it seems almost impossible for Gullbergsbro to catch up with Kungälv.
Kungälv seems to have improved their play, a bronze medal at the Swedish Cup recently confirms that, and they can for sure fight for the medals in this summers Elitserien, while Gullbergsbro obviously is a little bit behind.
Individual, there were only players from Kungälv on top of the scoreboard, with Johan Ahlander as the best with an average of 20,9. There were also three rounds of 18 played this weekend. The lucky ones were Björn Dinau and Hans Olofsson (both Kungälvs BGK) and Pontus Svensson (Gullbergsbro BGK). » Results & overall standings
